It got its name in the mid-1980s from cornerbacks Hanford Dixon and Frank Minnifield, who took to calling their own defensive linemen “dogs” and barking at them in practice — the bleachers heard it, liked it, and adopted it. By 1994 that end of the stadium was a wall of dog masks, barking at visiting offenses.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e1994 is a pointed year for a pack like this. The Browns reached the playoffs and won a round that season. The franchise left for Baltimore after the following one, and the stadium came down in 1996.
